Billy Fitzgerald

William “Billy” Fitzgerald is an award-winning Producer, Director, DP and Production Manager with over 25 years of television, film and video production experience. Billy started his career in television news and then brought his expertise to the New York Stock Exchange as their Broadcast Specialist. There he was a key part of the team that built the NYSE’s digital broadcast facility. The NYSE is the world’s largest equities marketplace, and its Opening/Closing Bell live broadcast is the most widely watched daily event in the world.

In 2005, he joined NYC Media Group as their Director of Production – an organization created by Michael Bloomberg to manage all of New York City’s media assets. While at NYC Media Group, he was responsible for production of all the original content that aired on NYC TV’s broadcast channel 25 (WNYE) and cable Channel 74, as well as 5 syndicated programs on WNBC and one nationally syndicated program on PBS. During his tenure, NYC MG forged historic syndication partnerships with NBC and PBS, and under his supervision, switched production formats to High Definition. While he was Director of Production, NYC TV received 80 NY Emmy nominations and over 30 wins. The show “Secrets of New York,” which he co-executive produced and production managed, won 7 Emmys in 2007. Billy won the 2008 Emmy for Advanced Media: Lifestyle/Entertainment for “Gigs”, a hybrid broadcast/online show about New York City’s live music scene that he created and executive produced. That same show was nominated for a Webby in 2008.

Billy then founded YouHere Productions, along with Ursula von Rydingsvard. Based in New York, YouHere focuses on documentaries, broadcast commercials and high-end web content for clients including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Weill Cornell Medical Center, Hospital for Special Surgery, Mt. Sinai Hospital, Rockefeller University, The Empire State Building, Church Pension Group, UBS, the NYSE and various Fortune 500 businesses.

He was the Director of Photography and Production Manager on “Back Door Channels: The Price of Peace”, a feature-length documentary about the Camp David Peace Accords, featuring President Jimmy Carter, Henry Kissinger and Boutros Boutros-Ghali. It premiered opening night of the 49th Annual Monte Carlo Television & Film Festival, went on to be shown at other festivals and was then shown in theaters in New York, Los Angeles and other select cities. A broadcast version was distributed on PBS nationwide, and Billy and the BDC team won a 2014 New York Emmy for Best Documentary for PBS affiliate WLIW.
